Why do dogs like to play in the mud?
The dogs love to play in the mud because it’s so much fun! They also like to feel wet and dirty.
And, of course, dogs love to roll around in the mud because it helps them cool down on hot days. Our dogs love nothing more than catching a puddle on dog walks in the summer!
How to remove Muddy Paw prints
We love seeing our dogs have a good time and don’t mind them enjoying a muddy walk.
But how can you keep your home and car free of mud stains? Here are our tips for keeping your world as mud-free as possible during the muddy months:
Stains in laundry: Clean mud on your clothes
Got muddy footprints on your jeans after walking the dog?
For granular stains such as mud, remove excess first. Take off as much as you can, let the mud dry and then brush off as much of the remaining mud as you can, not rubbing the mud into the fabric as much as you can.
Next, pre-treat the stain, wash, and make sure the fabric is rinsed. If mud stains remain, do not dry the fabric, but pre-treat it again.
Got mud on your dog walking shoes? Again, remove as much mud as possible. Use brush to remove dry mud, then pre-treat. Wash sneakers on a gentle cycle.
Mud in the car

Pour white Vinegar onto the stain and then sprinkle with baking soda. The baking soda will come off and foam on the stain.
Next, use a white cloth (so you don’t transfer the dye onto the carpet) to absorb as much of the stain as possible, place a weight on the cloth and let it sit for a while for more to absorb.
Continue this process until the stain is gone, then rinse with water and pat dry.
Prevent Muddy Feet
Of course, the less dirt your dog clings to your house and car, the less dirt you need to clean!
Be sure to cut the fur between the dog’s paw pads. Not only will it help prevent mud from sticking to the fur during these fall months, but when winter comes, it will also prevent the formation of painful ice balls between the toes.
Likewise, trim your dog’s nails to avoid adding mud to it.
