Missing San Antonio dog rescued from storm drain
Animal care workers in San Antonio, Texas, are being hailed as heroes for saving a dog that got stuck in a storm drain.
The officers posted photos of the rescue on Facebook and joked Written, “We get it… storm drains can be a little scary (thanks Pennywise!). Most people avoid them but not Jupiter.”
The big dog, named Jupiter, somehow managed to wriggle into the sewer but couldn’t get out. She wanders from home and her caring family is looking for her everywhere.
A woman walking with her son saw the dog and realized she was trapped. Luckily, animal care worker Sewell was nearby on another call and was flagged down to help.
“As Officer Sewell approached the drain, Jupiter poked out of her head from a tight concrete opening. She seems nimble and friendly, but (understandably) isn’t thrilled about her predicament,” posted City of San Antonio Animal Care Service.
The trapped dog calling for help attracted the attention of police officer Sewell and two curious cats. Nosy cats ran over to see what all the fuss was about.
Officers DeLaCruz, Garcia, and Cadet Prescott arrived to assist in the rescue. Residents of the area (including two cats) gathered around to watch.
ACS shared, “After the heavy cover was removed, Officers Sewell and DeLaCruz were able to get into the odd maintenance hole to properly tighten a rope around Jupiter so she could be towed. to a safe place. This big girl was so patient while our officers prepared to get her out of the sewers! ”
Jupiter was eventually freed and examined by a veterinarian. She was in good health and was reunited with her family later that afternoon.
ACS concluded the article by thanking everyone involved. “Three cheers for our brave officers who go above and beyond (and below if needed!) to help struggling pets!”
