Missing rescue dog returns home proudly presented with dog show award
When the dogs go missing, they can’t tell us about their crazy adventures. Many families wish their dogs could tell them stories about their time away, but for one family in West Sussex, England, their dog wasn’t. She has someone who can tell her story to her.
One day, Bonnie the Beagle mix disappeared from her yard, sending her loved ones into a state of panic. But little do they know, a dog lover found Bonnie shortly after she went missing and kept her safe until they could talk to her family. Bonnie’s journey ended with her winning third place in a dog show!
The dog loves his unique adventure
Bonnie, 5, snuck out of an open gate when her humans, Peter and Paula Closier, weren’t looking in. They searched the neighborhood and were helped by neighbors and their two daughters.
Paula called everyone she could think of, including the police, veterinarians and local shelters. No one knows where Bonnie is. As it turns out, she found a human to be with shortly after her disappearance, so the Closiers have nothing to worry about.
John Wilmer was driving his two dogs to a dog show when he saw Bonnie on the side of the road, not far from her house. She doesn’t have a collar because her family took it off for a short time. Wilmer let Beagle blend into his car so she wouldn’t have to keep roaming the streets, but he was late to the dog show, so he rushed there with Bonnie in tow.
When possible, Wilmer posted a photo of the lost dog on Facebook. It wasn’t long before someone hooked him up with the Bonnie family so they could meet up after the show.
Found with a special prize
While Wilmer was at the dog show with Bonnie, he thought he might as well enter her since she was there. He beat her in the “Best Rescue Dog” contest and she took third place! The puppy has a beautiful yellow ribbon to take home with her.
So when Bonnie’s family came to pick her up, they were surprised to find her bringing home an award. They had previously imported Cleo, Bonnie’s sister, in dog shows, but they had never thought of importing their adorable mixed breed. Bonnie proved to her family that she can be as talented as her siblings.

Bonnie’s family is grateful that their dog’s day out has ended so positively. Not all dogs are so lucky, so everyone is grateful that Wilmer was nice enough to take care of her.
