MIROS opens MyMAP bike evaluation program for stages 2 and 3, for hybrid bikes over 250 cc
Motorcycle manufacturers in Malaysia are invited to participate Malaysian Motorcycle Assessment Program (MyMAP). MyMAP conducted by the Malaysian Road Safety Research Institute (MIROS) concluded Phase 1 with 9 motorcycles in the local market receiving a 5-star rating for safety technology.
Phases 2 and 3 of MyMAP apply to motorcycles over 250 cc and motorcycles with a combined power supply system, such as internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric vehicles. Covering the high- and large-displacement motorcycle market during these periods, participation in MyMAP is currently voluntary for motorcycle manufacturer in Malaysia.
According to MIROS Director of Safety and Biomechanics Research, Dr Zulhaidi Jawi, “We received a lot of inquiries from manufacturers of large displacement and hybrid motorcycles. So we opened Phase 3 earlier than expected.” From the press release, MIROS hopes that safety technology from the large displacement and hybrid segment will be brought down to the affordable motorcycle segment.
