Minimalist photography in the middle of the desert
I’ve been lucky enough to take my camera with me to many places to shoot, from glaciers in Iceland to rainforests in Costa Rica. There isn’t one type of biome that I’m more into than another – I love the mountains and I love the beach – but there’s one landscape I haven’t visited yet: a desert.
In this video, North Borders goes to the Stockton Sand Dunes in New South Wales, Australia, to photograph cars with both its camera and drone. One aspect of drone photography that I particularly enjoy is the perspective that you can’t easily reproduce in any other way, especially during golden hour when the light casts shadows. . While desert sand seems pretty plain, when light hits the dunes from an angle, it creates interesting patterns, not to mention the color contrast between the deep blue sky and the sand. orange.
