MG ZST 2023 price and specifications

MG Motor Australia recently announced that it has raised prices on most of its models, and the ZST is not exempt.

Prices went up by $1000 for Core, Vibe, and Essence while Excite earned a $2000 price increase.

The Chinese automaker says there are no specification changes for the model.

A spokesperson for MG Motor Australia said: “The price increase is due to rising production costs and supply chain challenges that are affecting us and other brands.

Customers with existing orders prior to the rally earlier this month will have their order prices protected. The MY22 models will not see any rally with the increase affecting only the MY23 models.

The range now starts at a $26,990 drive for the base model Core and expands to a $34,990 drive for the flagship Essence.

A spokesperson for MG Australia recently said that “for most of the models in our range, we have a good supply for immediate delivery.”

Abundant supply has helped ZST maintain its position at the top of the small SUV sales rankings.

MG lumps ZST, ZS and ZS EV sales together and by the end of March, it has sold 5733 units, well ahead of second place. GWM Haval Jolion (2664 sales).

MG ZST Core and Vibe are powered by one 1.5 liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine do 84kW power and 150Nm of torque, which is transmitted to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

MG ZST Excite and Essence are powered by a 1.3 liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with 115kW power and 230Nm of torque, which is sent through the front wheels through a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Effective

Claimed fuel economy for MG ZST Core and Vibe is 6.9 liters/100km on the mixed cycle. Essence and Excite use one statement 7.1L/100km.

The ZST claims 95 RON unleaded premium with the 1.3 liter turbocharged engine and 91 RON regular with the 1.5 liter engine. Core and Vibe have 48L fuel tank, Excite and Essence have 45L fuel tank.

Measures MG ZST 4323mm long, 1809mm wide and 1653mm tall, with a 2585mm High wheelbase.

The tare weight is 1295kg and the maximum braking capacity is 500kg.

Boot space is 359 liters with the rear seats upright, and 1187L with them folded flat.

Service and Warranty

The MG ZST is covered by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty, with seven years of roadside assistance.

Maintenance is required every 12 months or 10,000km, whichever comes first. Five years of service in 1.5 liters costs $1505, while 1.3 liters costs $1566.

Safety

ANCAP has yet to crash test the ZST however the same ZS model has been crash tested and received a four-star rating in 2017.

It’s worth mentioning that the ZS EV, which also has the same active safety kit technology as the ZST earned a five-star rating based on when it was tested in 2019.
