Mercedes-Benz didn’t earn much with its EQ Power line Dip into the mixture powertrain in the US market, most recently lobbying the battery short GLC 350e and S 560e and introduction 2024 GLE 400e 4Matic. Dual power engines are the bigger deals in other markets, hence the introduction of the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e. Maybach The first PHEV is a rebranded and more luxurious version of the Mercedes-Benz S 580e launching in July 2021. Like the previous car, the highlight is the charging port on the driver’s rear fender. You need to know your S-Class well, as the charging port mirrors the fuel inlet on the passenger-side rear fender.
The ultra-luxury sedan that kicks off the luxury brand’s path of electrification, the first battery-powered Maybach will arrive later this year or early next year. As a bit of badge engineering, we’re familiar with the specs. There’s a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six under the hood that makes 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque on its own. The electric assist system is a single e-motor making 148 hp and 325 lb-ft, making the combined powertrain 503 hp and 553 lb-ft. This 5,250-pound four-door vehicle accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155 mph using both the ICE system and the electrocardiogram. In pure electric mode, the 28 kWh battery pack can deliver 62 miles of noise-free driving and a top speed of 87 mph. Pack can be filled in 30 minutes with 60 kW DC chargerotherwise the onboard 11 kW integrated charger should suffice.
Currently only the rear-wheel drive version. However, since Mercedes launching the S 580e 4Matic five months after the push-up version of that car, there’s reason to believe the Maybach S 580e 4Matic won’t be far off.
