McDonald’s just threw technology out the window (well, its customers did)

Much of the tech world likes to wrap itself in a cloak of inevitability.

Of course, Web3 will be a success. Everyone will want it. Because every VC and tech company will want people to want it.

However, sometimes, people’s lives decide to take a different turn and tech creators lose their (self-management) shine.

It seems like but a few years ago technology has taken the food underneath its metal wings and transform it into something very different.

Plant-based is the thing, and who are you to argue?

Fast food brands race to see who can make Happy Meal or Fake Meat Whopper a success. With Besides meat, meat does not become a cool thing to eat. It doesn’t have to be healthier – those are still high in calories – but it will save the world from the ill effects of cow emissions.

Recently, however, a very strange event has tested this concept. Looks like McDonald’s has been very quiet send its McPlant burgers out to the pasture.

I tasted one of these and found it to be completely pleasant. You can, if you pair it with a glass of wine, convince me it’s beef.

American McDonald’s The fans, however, shunned it.

Let’s try some post-game analysis.

The first thought may be that vegetarians, vegans and healthy living don’t go to McDonald’s very often. However, especially during a pandemic, McDonald’s is often the only source of cheap and fast food.

Why not at least try it? Why not appreciate the brains that went into it? Why not help change the image of Murican munching on meat?

Many vegetarians and vegans object to the fact that McPlant is cooked on the same griddle as the meat version appears in the world.

But come on, I hear you snort; Perfectionism only goes so far. This is certainly a step in the direction of holiness.

I fear that some may go in the direction of a political interpretation. Why in recent times, Cracker Barrel offers a plant-based sausage led some customers to allegedly accuse the company, Lord no, of “waking up”.

Could it be that just being seen with a McPlant burger has some Americans worried about their self-image? Perhaps they are afraid of being shunned by friends and neighbors?

The mere idea is unsettling. However, one could even bring it to a more difficult conclusion. So let’s. What if the problem wasn’t even the supposed awakening but the distrust of science?

Also: McDonald’s wants customers to use its app for a really unfortunate reason

Yes, scientists have made these burgers. They probably have a Bill Gates chip in there.

Mine is to explore possibilities, not to draw conclusions or fallacies. So I won’t focus on the fact that McPlant is doing better in some European countries.

In the end, I want to believe this is like a bit Apple vs Android. There simply aren’t many willing converts. So unless McPlant somehow gets new customers to McDonald’s, it’s doomed.

It’s weird how easy it is to convince people to use a new app where they can meet strangers and scream in the face, but it’s hard to convince humans to do something that can help the world.

It might make you think we deserve our destiny.
