Mazda MX-30 Extends Pause Range, EV Battery Cost, Ioniq 5 Walk: Car News Today
Hyundai shows how technology for future mobility can make it easier for all electric vehicles to park. Considering inflation, battery costs may not increase too much. And don’t wait for a Mazda EV to extend the turning range. This and more, at Green Car Reports.
Mazda has revealed pricing for the MX-30 EV for the 2023 model year, but it basically confirmed that MX-30 extends delayed or canceled shooting range for the United States — even as the automaker prepares to detail Europe later this week.
At CES last week, Hyundai’s Mobis mobile technology division showed off the next step for its electronic corner hardware—allowing Hyundai Ioniq 5 go to the corner and pop a coin. For now, it just shows what the technology can do in a future purpose-built vehicle for mobility services, but you never know.
And it’s interesting how the data sometimes looks quite different depending on how you handle it. According to the US Department of Energy, EV battery costs have continued to fall into 2022. That is by looking at it with constant dollars in 2022 (and therefore inflation in 2022) and based on the usable energy in the battery packs. That’s a completely different conclusion than others have come to.
