With Owen on vacation, I had a mission that couldn’t be better than to take a look ITV Racing this weekend for those outside. Handicap bar 16 runners at Haydock, the remaining six races have only 37 runners combined, which makes finding great opportunities more of a task than ever!
Ascot is another show hosting ITV cameras this weekend with Lingfield, Huntingdon, Gowran and Wolverhampton also in action with free horse racing tips for all tags on the site.
With five or six locations available here, this is the obvious place to start in an outsider’s quest. Winseverything (40/1) ran only once on this trip, looking for everything else to be cooled halfway down the line at Ffos Las, only to be allowed to cross the run.
He was then blown away so that Harry Fry clearly felt that it was his breathing rather than his stamina that was of concern. He ran to that extent on his comeback more than two and a half miles in a race that turned into a sprint. Drop an extra pound and add a tongue strap, he looks way too expensive for his current odds.
Eight people died here but actually with A Plus Tard and Bristol De Mai we’re just trying to find a third. Most of them have a lot to prove so perhaps a broad outsider Chatham Street Lad (January 40) was the way to start that he had a preparatory run.
Bar Bristol De Mai, his other opponents will have bigger fish to fry at the end of the season so his fitness will help a lot. He scored a 3 on his first attempt at this hurdle ride, then ran great in Aintree. That race has looked solid since, and his 163 RPR that he scored twice last season makes him less of a find than the price would suggest.
Not so big in price as the other pair only has two places offered but Dolos (January 14) This price should not be from the 154 mark. All 4 of his wins have come over the right-handed barrier, including 1 here. The most recent two come from points 157 and 154, beaten just short at Sandown in February from 158.
Admittedly he’s been hugely underpowered in his three runs since that Sandown attempt but a pair has come in at Sorted level. It’s hard to excuse Chepstow about his seasonal return, especially since he’s run well there in the past but all the horses have weird holidays. This trip with a bit of a cut is ideal for him so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him return.
