Masks are now optional indoors, but are still mandatory on public transit and e-scooters – KKM
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has announced that masks are now an indoor option, effective immediately. Masks have been optional outdoors for some time, but now you can enter shopping malls without coverings, for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
However, wearing a mask is still required if you’re using public transport, including trains, buses, and trams. This also includes flights, school buses, and factory (or truck) buses. You also need to cover your face if you test positive for Covid-19 or if you are in a hospital, clinic, health care facility or dialysis center. Remember this and always keep a mask with you.
KKM still encourages the use of masks when in crowded places like pasar malam, stadium, shopping mall or place of worship. People with flu-like symptoms and those at high risk (elderly, chronically ill, low immunity, pregnant women) are also encouraged to continue wearing masks.
