Chase released two of the most affordable co-branding options that are currently open to new subscribers: Marriott Bonvoy Bold . Credit Card and Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card.

Marriott Bonvoy Bold vs. Marriott Bonvoy Infinite Welcome Bonus

Both cards currently offer high welcome bonuses:

Winner: boundless. Its signup bonus is worth $210 more than Bold, but you need to spend triple the amount to get the bonus points.

Marriott Bonvoy Bold vs. Marriott Bonvoy Endless Benefits

The free night certificate is the most notable differentiator between these entry-level card benefits.

Boundless Bonvoy cardholders receive a free night certificate worth up to 35,000 points — plus ability to use up to 15,000 extra points to cover the difference between the 35,000 point threshold and the price of your stay. If used strategically, you can score a free night at a hotel that easily makes up for the cost. $95 annual fee per year.

Bold Bonvoy meanwhile, cardholders don’t get a free night certificate but don’t have to pay an annual fee either.

The cards, on the other hand, offer similar perks. With either card you will get automatic Silver Elite status and strong travel and purchase protections from Chase. In addition, you will not have to pay any foreign transaction fees with these cards when traveling internationally.

Earn points with Marriott Bonvoy Bold versus Marriott Bonvoy Boundless

with Boundless Bonvoy, you’ll earn 6 points per dollar at Bonvoy properties, 3 points per dollar on your first $6,000 aggregate purchase at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. You will earn 2 points for every dollar on all other purchases.

Winner: Boundless Bonvoy. It earns at least twice as many points as Bold does on all purchases (except travel, which they earn the same.)

Redeem points with Marriott Bonvoy Bold versus Marriott Bonvoy Boundless

If you can use the annual free night certificate, Boundless Marriott Bonvoy is the best choice for you. You will also unlock higher monetization rates with Boundless. However, if you want to avoid the annual fee, The bold Marriott Bonvoy is the better choice for you.

How to upgrade from Marriott Bonvoy Bold to Marriott Bonvoy Boundless

If you’re not eligible for the new Bonvoy bonus or it’s past 24/5, a product change may be your best bet. both Bold Bonvoy and Boundless Bonvoy experience Chase’s 5/24 Rule as well as more specific Marriott Bonvoy Eligibility limitations.
