Marc Marquez is ready to race in Austin, as his nearsightedness improves

Marc Marquez’s second case of diplopia, or diplopia, in the space of six months was resolved favorably. The Repsol Honda team announced today that he will be returning to Austin, after being cleared by the doctors first.

The news was not a complete surprise. Marquez posted earlier on Tuesday that he went to Alcarras, driving a Honda CBR600RR, to have his eyesight checked.

That test, and an examination by Dr. Sanchez Dalmau, the ophthalmologist who treated Marquez, showed that Marquez had improved enough to qualify for the Grand Prix of The Americas in Austin.

Marquez’s current double vision came after a monster header during the warm-up for the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika.

Despite going away without breaking any bones, he was ruled out of the race due to concussion, and on the flight home to Barcelona he developed a mild case of double vision. .

His ophthalmologist has prescribed a cautious approach, as he did after the problem occurred in October 2021, after Marquez had an accident during enduro training.

Marquez will especially want to return to Circuit of The Americas, given his stellar record there.

He’s won there eight times, missing only once in 2019, when a problem with the engine brakes caused him to crash. Despite his injury, his record in Texas suggests he will start the race as one of the favorites.
