Man knocks out cop and confesses to murder in Arizona | US News

A 52-year-old American man knocked over a police car and confessed to the murder.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office confirms Jay Albert Stevens waved to the officer in the middle of Central Freeway in southern Arizona at 1 a.m. Thursday.

When the co-pilot questioned Stevens, he confessed to fatally shooting another man, 61.

Stevens then led the vice-captain to the location where the body was found.

The Sheriff’s Office posted a statement on Facebook that said: “At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, a Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a male subject in the middle of the roadway. on Central Expressway and Sage Alley near McNeal.

“The male subject exempted the deputy and when the male subject asked if he was okay, the male subject said he had just shot and killed one person.

“When he received additional details from the male subject, he indicated that he did not have an address where the incident occurred but that he was able to direct a resident (sic) where a man 61 years old was found dead.”

He was held at the Cochise County Jail and charged with first-degree murder.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the murder.
