Malala Yousafzai admits: ‘I was worried about marriage’
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who married her partner Asser Malik last week, addressed marriage “concerns” she voiced earlier in British Vogue.
Appearing on the BBC’s Andrew Marr programme, the 24-year-old Pakistani women’s rights activist said her concerns were true for “many girls around the world who have seen reports of child marriage, divorce.. . and the imbalance of power”.
However, she added that she was “lucky” to find a husband who understood her worth.
Her husband is intimately involved with cricket and is the High Performance General Manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Malala found refuge in the UK after being shot by the Taliban in early 2012.
