Maker’s Mark, Keeneland collaborates with LexArts
Life-sized colorful horse figurines are returning to the community this summer and fall into the third installment of Horse Mania, an initiative run by LexArts, the fundraising, advocacy organization. and Lexington’s premier cultural development.
Horse Mania instills an understanding and appreciation of public art. This year, Horse Mania is supported by the annual release of Maker’s commemorative Mark(r) Bourbon in partnership with Keeneland Racecourse.

“No other public art initiative in the history of our city has captured the hearts and imaginations of Lexingtonians and tourists,” said Ame Sweetall, President and CEO of LexArts. guests like Horse Mania. “Public art is the hallmark of all great American cities, and LexArts is excited to support the two iconic Kentucky brands, Keeneland and Maker’s Mark, in bringing Horse Mania to life once again. For the second year, the commemorative bottle will feature one of three distinct label designs featuring the work of artists Sandra Oppegard, Andre Pater or Tyler Robertson. The labels depict the beauty and history of Thoroughbred racing.
Each bottle is signed by the artist who created the design, along with Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin, Maker CEO Mark Rob Samuels and one of three winning female racers in Keeneland history. : Julie Krone, Rosie Napravnik and Donna Barton Brothers.
Maker’s Mark and Keeneland have collaborated on an annual commemorative bottle release since 1997, raising millions of dollars for a variety of worthy causes throughout Central Kentucky.
“Keeneland is committed to supporting public art exhibitions such as Horse Mania, which coincide with several major equestrian events at the racecourse and in our community, while celebrating the vibrant cultural importance impact of our sport on the Commonwealth and on the international scene,” said Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin. “We’re excited to continue our long-term partnership with Maker’s Mark to support LexArts.”

These three bottles will go on sale on Friday, April 8, the opening day of Keeneland’s Spring Meeting 2022.
