‘Maiden’ Towhead gives experience to Jessamine Stakes

Deuce Greathouse’s Hijab was one of the most experienced participants with staking credentials in the entire school of 12 sets for 7 October JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes (G2T) at Keeneland and, oddly, she was the winner without a win on her record.

Malibu Moon’s 2-year-old daughter enters the 1/16-mile turf race after a head-bob loss in the Aristocrat Gaming Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Kentucky Downs September 3, where she missed a shot Hurry up , who is entered into Darley Alicibiades Stakes (G1) on the same card. Nine lengths separate Towhead from the rest of the Juvenile Fillies school.

Jessamine is a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Race that offers winners a paid landing to enter Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1T) on November 4 in Keeneland. Two Jessamine winners returned to win the Juvenile Fillies Turf: Aunt Tran in 2020 and Autumn rush in 2017.

Towhead crossed the first rope in a special maiden weight on July 24 at Racecourse Saratoga but failed to win as the race was declared “no contest” by the managers after an initial delay in moving the starting gate.

Although not officially breaking her maidenhood, Towhead brings a lot of racing experience to Jessamine. She has had five starts since May 26 and has finished second twice and third twice officially. RT Racing Stable’s Stephanie’s charm is the only Jessamine beginner who has started the most times and is also a bettor.

Like Towhead, Moon Over Miami is not a Smart Strike mare.

C2 Racing Stable and Stefania Farms’ Blind spot was the only bet winner in the field, coming to Jessamine with a three-quarter length win on September 17 in Our Dear Page Stakes on the all-weather track at Gulfstream Park. Blind Spot is the daughter of Cross Traffic who finished second on her debut and followed by two wins for coach Saffie Joseph Jr. Jessamine will be her first start on the pitch.

Augustin Stable’s joyful a daughter of Mendelssohn who was purchased for $400,000 at the March 2nd Kids Sales during Ocala Breeders training, comes to Jessamine with a 2 1/4 length win in a special weight class match for girls 7 1/2 times on the pitch at Del Mar.
