JW Singer Magic circle credits her breakout win on her fourth attempt at the stake level with a commanding wire-to-wire performance in a $100,000 Bllionsa Bet for a 3-year-old on May 23. 1 time Aqueduct race track.
The chestnut daughter of Kantharos led nearly every step in her previous start, Demoiselle Stakes (G2) on December 4 at Big A, before being caught in the final steps. In Bllionsa, the Magic Circle this time never gave up its lead, maintaining its advantage to win with a 2 3/4 margin.
Upon catching Bllionsa, Magic Circle earned 10 qualifying points against Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1), bringing her total to 13 to place third on the leaderboard. She previously earned two points for finishing third in the Demoiselle and one point for finishing fourth in October 3 Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park.
Driven by Jose Ortiz, the Magic Circle was pushed a few steps out of the gate and propelled forward, reducing the opening odds: 24.38 quarters and: 48.28 half-miles on the untested lead. as Rosebug stalk her second down the back seat. Ortiz said: ‘She broke it off really well and put me in there. “She was traveling beautifully in the first quarter. She pulled me a little too hard. I was a little nervous and I just wanted to put my hands down and relax and she finally got through seven clamps. When She stepped into the back. She was bred in Kentucky by Manitou Ranch and is the second of two ponies out of the Distorted humor mare Magic Humor, who was last reported to have bred with Catholic boy for the year 2022.
Run Forever Racing purchased the Magic Circle from Costanzo Ocala Breeders Sales 2021 Spring Sales for 2-year-olds in training for $110,000. The colt was previously sold as a short-lived longing at the January 2020 Keeneland All Age Horse Sale for $50,000 to the South Paw in the Brookdale Sales consignment.
