Adele released a new song, “I Drink Wine”, during her time Only one night TV concert special tonight.
The soulful, blu music composition conveys the struggles in a relationship and the efforts to get it done. “You better believe I’m trying to keep climbing / But the higher we climb, it feels like neither of us is wiser,” she constricted.
Lyrically, the song refers to Adele’s recent divorce from her husband Simon Konecki. (Surname split in 2019 and share a son, Angelo.) During a live interview with Oprah Winfrey on the broadcast, the singer shared about how to deal with the breakup while writing her next album, 30, which is due on Friday.
“I stopped drinking,” she revealed. “It’s a great way to really get to know yourself, just to drink water and stay awake whatever it is.” When Winfrey pointed out her “fascinating relationship with alcohol,” Adele explained that it was “so true,” “because it took my father away from me.”
