This has been a record summer tourist season, with US airlines expect 271 million travelers between June 1 and August 31, according to American Airlines.
Lyft has long been in the business of getting travelers where they need to go when they need to be there.
After launching as a holiday travel promotion, Lyft’s On-Time Pickup Promise is now a permanent feature for drivers starting this summer, meaning you’ll get paid if not picked up on time.
Promise to welcome guests on time
Starting Wednesday, scheduled airport rides will be covered by Lyft’s On-Time Pickup Promise, ensuring your ride arrives on time or you’ll be compensated.
Users can schedule Lyft rides up to 30 days in advance, so they can lock in a pickup date, time, and price to avoid having to worry about one more thing. Scheduled rides also get priority when it’s time to match with a driver, and drivers can accept a ride at any time after it’s scheduled. Scheduled rides can be canceled or modified up to one hour before the pickup time.
If you are not picked up on time for your scheduled Lyft ride at the airport, you will automatically receive a Lyft Cash credit in your account as follows:
- $15 Lyft Cash if your driver is more than 10 minutes late (down from $20 in initial launch)
- $50 Lyft Cash if you don’t meet your driver 10 minutes after your scheduled pickup time
- Add up to $50 in Lyft cash if you’re not paired with a driver and your trip with another company costs more than $50
The first two will be paid automatically, but you must contact Lyft through the app’s help section to submit receipts from your alternative transportation for the additional $50 compensation.

Lyft’s Extra Comfort feature is also available for travelers to rest and relax from the moment they get in the car. Trips designated as “Extra Comfort” offer a more spacious vehicle, a highly rated driver, and the option of temperature presets, a quiet ride, or luggage assistance.
