Luis Nery headlined a card that broadcasts DAZN live from the Fox Theater in Pomona, California on Saturday. Nery’s opponent 33-1 is Azat Hovhannisyan 21-3. Their match was a WBC super bantamweight match scheduled for the 12th. Nery missed the first fight, but was still able to go on and make some solid shots. Everything seemed to slow down a bit in the second until the final moments of the round when the two boxers lunged at each other. Despite failing to land as cleanly as possible, Hovhannisyan threw his man impressively in the third inning. However, Nery landed himself well.
The fourth inning saw a lot of action from both men, but Nery was injured at the last minute. He fought back tenaciously until the bell rang. Two boxers fight in the fifth round. Hovhannisyan ran into trouble at the end of the inning, but managed to survive the chapter. The fight was more tentative in the sixth round, unsurprising considering the ferocious fury that raged throughout the match. Nery appeared exhausted in the seventh inning. And, despite the match as always, he also seemed exhausted by the eighth inning.
The ninth round saw Hovhannisyan simply the more aggressive of the two, although both men hit the gas late in the match. Nery looks like he’s about to end up in season ten. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, he pushed Hovhannisyan onto the field. Hovhannisyan got up and somehow survived the round. The thunderous action continues on the eleventh. Nery knocked Hovhannisyan one last time and the referee stopped the game.
