After a series of forgettable outings, Trent Boult got up to his feet on the occasion when it mattered. The New Zealander quickly regained his touch, picking up a couple of doubles and guiding the Rajasthan Royals to a 24-game win over Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game. at Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.
After Yashasvi Jaiswal (41, 29b, 6×4, 1×6) and Devdutt Padikkal of 39 (18b, 5×4, 2×6) guided the Royals to 178 to six, Boult eliminated Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni in the first three rounds, with only 15 runs across the board.
Cutting the ball short to Boult (two for 18), de Kock caught Jimmy Neesham low, and on the next serve, Badoni got his foot stuck earlier.
Two strikes, KL captain Rahul kept going for the innings, but Prasidh Krishna cut his stay short, prompting him to deliver a catch for Jaiswal at the time.
Lucknow spins at 29 for three of the 5.3 laps, but it was rebuilt with Deepak Hooda (59, 39b, 5×4, 2×6) and Krunal Pandya to create a 65 lap rack. Having played together for Baroda for many years, Krunal and Hooda know each other’s game very well.
Ravichandran Ashwin attacked as Krunal tried to land a big shot with a straight stroke, but a brilliant assist between Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag at length brought him back to the dugout.

With momentum lost, Hooda was soon beaten by Sanju Samson to Yuzvendra Chahal, and Obed McCoy tightened the noose, picked up a few brackets, and limited the Super Giants to 154 to eight. Marcus Stoinis stayed in the match until the final before falling to Prasidh, but that wasn’t enough.
Before that, choosing to hit the stroke, the Royals lost Buttler to open the scoring in just two runs. But Jaiswal and Sanju added 64 runs for the second wicket. Jaiswal tore through Dushmantha Chameera, hitting three sixth rounds and six sixth rounds.
Captain Samson also hit a few times before pulling Hooda into the abyss. Padikkal and Jaiswal went along as the team hit the 100-run mark in 11 laps. Though both fell in quick succession, Boult’s quick 17-of-nine hit put the Royals on a competitive total, enough for their bowlers to defend.
