Live stream US Open 2024, where to watch: TV coverage, channels, Tiger Woods in round 1, match schedule, tee times

The 2024 US Open is here, and with it, four days of pristine golf are underway at one of the nation’s best courses, Pinehurst No. 2. The tournament in North Carolina begins Thursday with Round 1 creating The premise for the rest of the big year. The field was packed as more than 150 golfers competed for the trophy and grand prize for the winner.

Expectations are that a three-horse race will take place at the US Open as Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy each begin competing in hot form. Scheffler has won five of his last eight tournaments, including last week’s Masters and Memorial, while Schauffele won his first major at the PGA Championship and McIlroy remains clear third in the World Golf Ranking Official.

Will the rest of the star-studded field take notice of this trio, or will another big name make its move? Collin Morikawa, part of the final pair at both the Masters and PGA this year, is just behind that win on the odds board. Bryson DeChambeau has played excellent golf on the majors this year, while Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg and Brooks Koepka are all looking to round out their games. Of course, Koepka won back-to-back US Opens in the 2017-18 season and is now looking for a third championship to match his three PGA crowns.

As Round 1 began, Patrick Cantlay was low to start the match leading the club at five under, while Ludvig Åberg was similarly impressive in scoring 66 to score a win. Meanwhile, McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau are threatening from the get-go as the early stars of the afternoon wave. Keep it locked here at CBS Sports for Live coverage of Round 1 on Thursdayincluding score updates, analysis and highlights.

With so much talent in the field, whoever prevails at Pinehurst in the end is sure to take home the trophy and a record winner’s share of $4.3 million.

Beyond those big names, all eyes are once again on Tiger Woods, who is playing his first US Open since 2020 and is looking to make the cut for the first time since 2019. (It really is the only accomplishment Woods has made since 2013! ) Tiger played very tough throughout the first quarter, fought the Pinehurst greens hard and fast, but ultimately finished his day 4th. Whether that will be enough to qualify remains to be seen, but Woods will have a chance to do so that Friday (unlike Phil Mickelson, who opened 9 without scoring any birdie).

There’s so much to keep track of this week that it can be overwhelming at times. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered. CBS Sports will provide live coverage of the 2024 PGA Championship from start to finish on Thursday.
