A phone call between Representative Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., and Representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., was intended to ease tensions after Republicans made “provocative” comments about the Party. Democracy.
Both congresswomen agreed the appeal did not go well.

Omar said she spoke to Boebert on Monday in hopes of receiving a “direct apology.”
“Rather than apologizing for his anti-Muslim comments and fabricated lies, Rep. Boebert refused to publicly acknowledge his hurtful and dangerous comments. In the meantime, she doubled down on her rhetoric and I decided to put an end to the ineffective appeal,” Omar said in a statement. “I believe in interacting with people with whom we disagree respectfully, but not when that disagreement is rooted in outright bigotry and hatred.”

Boebert agrees that the call didn’t go well. On her personal Instagram account, Ms gave her the version of the call: “I never wanted anything I said to offend someone’s religion, so I said [Omar] “She speaks.” Even after I made a public statement about the matter, she said she still wanted a public apology for what I had done was not good enough. “
On Friday, far-right congresswoman tweeted an apology “to anyone in the Muslim community” was offended by her comments, but not an apology to Omar.
Instead, Boebert said, when Omar pushed for a direct and public apology, she said that Omar “should apologize to the American people” for his past rhetoric. Boebert then told Omar to “hang up the phone with me.”
Boebert also doubled down, saying she would put “America first, never sympathize with terrorists. Unfortunately, Ilhan can’t say the same thing.”
The controversial phone call could mean the House will have to deal with the debacle of Boebert’s comments when the chamber returns this week. Omar, along with Democratic leaders, called on Republican leaders to act.
“This isn’t about a hate statement or a politician; it’s about a party that has embedded bigotry and hatred. It’s time to lead the Republican Party. [Kevin] McCarthy really blamed his party,” Omar said.
Earlier this month, the Democratic-led House of Representatives censored Representative Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., after he posted an anime-style video on Twitter depicting him killing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., and attacking President Biden.
