Launching TailG Ebixon Bold and Torq electric scooters in Malaysia for RM9,000 and RM15,000, pre-orders open
New entries in Malaysia’s electric motorcycle (e-bike) scene are Bold TailG Ebixon and the Ebixon Torq electric scooter, priced at RM9,000 and RM14,999 respectively. Launched in Kuala Lumpur, the TailG electric bike is imported by Ni Hsin EV Tech from Tailing Electric Vehicle, Dongguan, China and manufactured at its facility in Seri Kembangan, Selangor with pre-orders to be delivered in first quarter of 2023.
Two electric bicycles are offered by Ni Hsin for different market segments in Malaysia – the Bold for personal electric mobility and the Torq for the small business and delivery sector. As a delivery vehicle, the Torq comes with a double replaceable 72 volt 50 Ah lithium battery pack, equivalent to 7.2 kWh, weighing 23 kg each.
Charging uses domestic current with a claimed charge time of two to eight hours, using an external vehicle charger rated at 72 volts DC output at eight amps. The battery drives a brushless hub-mounted 72-volt electric motor that delivers 5 kW of power and 74 Nm of torque.
This gives the Torq a claimed range of 200 km and an adjustable top speed of 90 km/h, and comes in two color options. Torq’s weight is listed as 85 kg with a maximum payload of 233 kg. Braking is done with hydraulic discs front and rear, with 12-inch wheels shod with 90/90 and 110/70 tubeless tires.
For commuters, the Bold is intended for short journeys in urban areas, with a range of 120 km and an adjusted top speed of 70 km/h. This is achieved using a pair of replaceable 72 volt 22 Ah lithium batteries – equivalent to 3.17 kWh – weighing 11 kg each while a 1.5 kW hub-mounted electric motor provides torque. 35 Nm.
Like the Torq, the Bold uses an external car charger that uses domestic current, with a charge time of two to eight hours. Bold weighs 91 kg with a maximum payload of 252 kg with suspension done with telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Rolling on 13-inch front and 12-inch front wheels, Bold uses 130/60 tubeless tires up front and 120/70 rubber tires at the rear, with three color options. The control panel is an LCD panel assembly and a USB charging port is provided as part of the standard equipment along with the LED lighting system.
