Launch of Cupra Tavascan electric SUV – up to 340 PS
Almost four years after the Cupra Tavascan was first displayed as a concept car at Frankfurt 2019, it’s here in production-ready form. The Tavascan is the second EV from the Spanish Cupra brand and is essentially a ‘hot and spicy’ counterbalance to the ‘original recipe’ Volkswagen ID5 coupe SUV.
It is built on the same Volkswagen MEB platform and has two power outputs – a single 285 PS rear-wheel drive or twin 340 PS all-wheel drive VZ model, the latter of which can reach 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. There are currently no published performance statistics for an engine.
Range is up to 548 km thanks to the 77 kWh battery pack, which seems to be the only option available for the car. It can be charged via DC at up to 135 kW.
The Cupra Tavascan will be built at Volkswagen Group’s Anhui plant in China.
