Like NFL season 2022 finished, there are four head coach jobs open with Carolina Newspaper, Indianapolis University, Dancer broncos, Houston Texas and Arizona Cardinals each one looking for the next one their franchise leader.
Coaching changes began at the start of this season, with Panthers fire Matt Rhule on October 10. Colts followed, fired Frank Reich on November 7, replacing him with former ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday. The third change is Denver fires first-year coach Nathaniel Hackett on December 26. After winning Week 18, the Texans fired Lovie Smith just hours later. The Cardinals followed by sack Kliff Kingsbury the next day, January 9.

Layoff date: January 9
cardinals sack Kingsbury on Monday, the day after losing to complete the 4-13 season. The move comes after Kingsbury’s fourth season in Arizona and comes just 10 months after Kingsbury signed an extension that will reportedly keep him under contract through the end of the 2027 season.

Houston fired Smith hours after the Texas team won its final game and finished 3-13-1 in Smith’s first season as head coach. The Texans have now fired their sideline coaches a year after ousting David Culley last January. Smith is the defensive coordinator and deputy head coach on Culley’s payroll in 2021 and was named head coach on 7 February.

Hackett’s dismissal put an abrupt end to shortest term of any non-interim head coach in franchise history.
