THAN: Champions League standings, results and highlights

Below are the tiebreak scenarios for each team participating on the final day of the group stage on December 7-8.

Group A tiebreak

The only teams that can finish with points in Group A are RB Leipzig and Club Brugge.

RB Leipzig & Club Brugge

  • Scenario 1: RB Leipzig (4 points), Club Brugge (4 points)
  • Scenario 2: RB Leipzig (5 points), Club Brugge (5 points)
  • Scenario 3: RB Leipzig (7 points), Club Brugge (7 points)

Since both teams have won one of their two head-to-head matches, we have to use the second deciding factor on the list: goal difference in head-to-head matches. RB Leipzig (goal difference +4) won immediately after they won 5-0 against Brugge (goal difference -4) in the last match.

Shoot tie table RED

There are three teams in a single point advancing to the final match day. Here are the tiebreaker scenarios:

Porto & AC Milan

  • The script: Porto (5 points), AC Milan (5 points)

Porto and AC Milan could finish with 5 points if Milan draw (vs Liverpool) and Porto lose to Atletico Madrid. Thanks to a win (1-0) and a draw (1-1) in the two head to head matches, Porto will take the lead based on the first draw (points in head-to-head matches).

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid

  • Scene 1: AC Milan (4 points), Atletico Madrid (4 points)
  • Scenario 2: AC Milan (5 points), Atletico Madrid (5 points)
  • Scenario 3: AC Mailn (7 points), Atletico Madrid (7 points)

Since they go into the final match on points and they play in separate matches, AC Milan and Atletico are likely to end up on points in three different scenarios.

THAN: Scenario of the Champions League final day

Both teams have won their two head to head matches (first draw), and they have the same goal difference (0) and goals scored (2) in those meetings (second draw and second draw). Tuesday). So we have to jump to the fourth deciding factor on the list: goal difference in all group stage matches. AC Milan have a slight edge at the moment (-2 vs -3), but that could clearly change on final day.

Table of Sizes

Borussia Dortmund (6 points) could have finished on points with Sporting CP (9 points), but Sporting goes into the final day with the winner having won based on head-to-head matches:

Sporting CP and Borussia Dortmund

  • The script: Sporting CP (9 points), Borussia Dortmund (6 points)

While both teams have won their two head-to-head matches (first draw), Sporting CP has a better goal difference in those matches of +1 compared to Dortmund’s -1 (second draw).

THAN: Champions League top scorer

So, regardless of the result in the final round, Sporting CP will finish against Borussia Dortmund, that’s why the team has officially won a place in the knockout round.

EASY Team Shirt

No team can finish with points on leaderboard D.

Table E tiebreak

No team can finish with points on the Group E leaderboard.

Group F tiebreak

There are three situations that could see teams equal points on the Group F leaderboard:

Manchester United and Villarreal

  • The script: Manchester United (10 points), Villarreal (10 points)

Manchester United won first place in the group because they got their first match win over Villarreal based on wins in both head-to-head matches (six points in total).

Atalanta & Young Boys

  • The script: Atalanta (7 points), Young Boys (7 points)

In the event that these two teams are tied, Atalanta is sure to win against the Swiss team. The Italian team has a win and a draw (four points total) in the two head to head matches (first draw).

Villarreal & Young Boys

  • The script: Villarreal (7 points), Young Boys (7 points)

Young Boys will also lose to Villarreal in head-to-head terms as the Spanish club have two wins in head-to-head matches (six points in total).

WOOD lace-up shirt

It can get pretty wild in Group G with the possibility of a three-way tie:

LOSC Lille & Wolfsburg

  • The script: LOSC Lille (8 points), Wolfsburg (8 points)

This scenario will determine the place for the second knockout round in Group E, belonging to the German team. The only way for this scenario to materialize is for Wolfsburg to win against Lille on the final day. That win, along with a 0-0 draw in France between these two teams, will help Wolfsburg win the head-to-head rankings (4 vs 1).

LOSC Lille, Wolfsburg & RB Salzburg

  • The script: LOSC Lille (8 points), Wolfsburg (8 points), RB Salzburg (8 points)

This scenario would be a three-leg tie at the top of the table, with only two teams advancing to the knockout stages and one team taking third place and one Europa League play-off spot.

The first leg (counting points in head-to-head matches) will be the teams ranked this way: 1) Wolfsburg (7 points), 2) RB Salzburg (6 points), 3) Lille (4 points). That ranking would see Wolfsburg as the winner of Group G, RB Salzburg as the runner-up and Lille as the third-place team to advance to the Europa League knockout stages.

Seville and Wolfsburg

  • The script: Sevilla (6 points), Wolfsburg (6 points)

Sevilla will win third place and a place in the Europa League play-offs based on a win (2-0) and a draw (1-1) in their two head to head matches (4 points to 1 point). of Wolfsburg).

Seville & LOSC Lille

  • The script: Sevilla (9 points), LOSC Lille (9 points)

Lille will win this match to take first place in the group based on a win (2-1) and a draw (0-0) against Sevilla in head-to-head matches (4 points to Sevilla’s 1 point).

Table H tiebreaker

There are potential relationships between the top two teams as well as the bottom two teams:

Chelsea and Juventus

  • Scene 1: Chelsea (12 points), Juventus (12 points)
  • Scenario 2: Chelsea (13 points), Juventus (13 points)
  • Scenario 3: Chelsea (15 points), Juventus (15 points)

Chelsea would have won the match against Juventus if both teams finished on points after the sixth and final round of the group stage had been played.

Although both teams have won head-to-head, Chelsea have better goal difference in head-to-head meetings: +3 for Chelsea versus -3 for Juventus.

FC Zenit & Malmo FF

  • The script: FC Zenit (4 points), Malmo FF (4 points)

If Zenit loses the last match and Malmo wins, the two teams will finish each other with 4 points. But since Zenit had a win (4-0) and a draw (1-1) in its two head-to-head matches against Malmo, it won on points in face-to-face meetings.

For that reason, Zenit closed in third place and a place in the Europa League play-offs.
