Land Rover celebrating James Bond celebrate the franchise’s 60th anniversary while highlighting Defender of off-road capability. It built a disposable Defender 90 with a 007-inspired livery for Mark Higgins to drive during the North Wales leg of the 2022 Bowler Defender Challenge.
Copying one of the SUVs that have starred in James Bond movies over the past six decades is too easy. Instead, the British company gave the Defenders 90 The one-of-a-kind interface is characterized by black paint and gold graphics. The sides and roof have a commemorative “007 60” emblem, while the names of various James Bond films appear on the hood and on the rear doors.
Graphics aside, the Defender is identical to the units that were modified by Bowler to join factory-supported one-made race series. It gets 18-inch wheels, redesigned suspension, revised subframe, snorkel, extra cooling system, full roll cage and racing straps, among other upgrades. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder called the P300 in the Land Rover version and tuned to deliver 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It turns all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Higgins is the natural choice when it comes to finding a pilot. Born on the Isle of Man, where there are one of the best and the hardest motorcycle races in the world, he competed in World Racing Championship (WRC) from 1990 to 2013 and won the British Rally Championship three times. He has also worked as a stunt driver in four James Bond films:Level of comfort” (2008), “Skyfall” (2012), “The spectre“(2015) and”There’s no time to die” (In 2021). Land Rover’s all-terrain vehicles have played an important role in many James Bond movies.
Land Rover’s commemorative Defender will make its competitive debut this Saturday, March 26.
