Esteban Bermudez 14-3-2 pitted Hiroto Kyoguchi 15-0 in Guadalajara on Friday night for Kyoguchi’s WBA world lightweight flyweight title. The match was scheduled for 12 innings and was streamed live by the DAZN streaming service. Bermudez managed to get past Kyoguchi’s high defense the first time around. Bermudez fought hard, but Kyoguchi landed more effective punches in the second. Kyoguchi continued to go far in the third round. Punches also have an impact. It’s worth wondering how long Bermudez can last. The round was stopped by the referee with only a few seconds left so the round doctor could look at Bermudez’s scarred face.
The fight was allowed to continue, and Bermudez survived the round. Kyoguchi, however, simply proved himself to be a super fighter. Throwing clean, hard shots from superb footwork, the Japanese has certainly been in impressive form. However, Bermudez continued to fight. Every man leaves in the fourth part, all heart and courage. These are definitely two warriors. Kyoguchi won a point in the fifth inning thanks to a header. It’s an unfortunate change, as Bermudez is showing incredible resilience as the game goes on.
Both fighters continued to butt each other in the sixth round. The doctor looked at Bermudez’s cuts. Bermudez was allowed to progress but was eliminated in the seventh inning. However, the referee still thought that Kyoguchi had landed on his head. So the knockdown doesn’t count and Kyoguchi gets another point deducted. However, Kyoguchi senselessly defeated his opponent early in the eighth round, and the referee wisely stopped the match.
