KTM ETS Ekspres starts in August, KL – Ipoh in 2 hours

KL to Ipoh in two hours without having to drive? That will soon become a reality with KTM’s ETS Ekspres service, which will start in August. The current ETS service to Ipoh from KL Sentral – which will continue to be the main service – takes two hours and 40 minutes, so will save significant time with ETS Ekspres.

KTMB COO Mohd Zain Mat Taha said: “This is an innovation for us for passengers from KL to Ipoh, along with system and infrastructure upgrades under the Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) project. Phase 1 is being completed in stages.” in Ipoh yesterday.

How does ETS Ekspres save time? By reducing the number of stations it stops at. Look schedule, the faster train will skip towns such as Sungai Buloh, Tanjung Malim, Kampar and Batu Gajah. Basically, after KL Sentral and Kuala Lumpur (old train station), it goes straight to Ipoh with no other stops.

In addition to the super popular KL-Ipoh route, there will also be ETS Ekspres trains from KL Sentral to Butterworth (three hours 30 minutes) and Padang Besar (four hours 50 minutes). There will be two ETS Ekspres trains to all three destinations, bringing a total of six additional trains on top of the current 32.
