Although the Jesko ownership group is small, the automaker has issued a stop-driving order for all 28 of the vehicles it produces. “Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking all Jesko owners and drivers to temporarily suspend their driving until we have had a chance to better understand the situation,” the automaker said.
Koenigsegg does not know the cause of the fire, but the passengers in the car in the movie arrived safely. The purchase price of the Jesko is higher than even the most unique supercars by $1 million or more, so losing one is hard to stomach, even if you can’t afford one.
Before the fire, the burned Jesko was participating in a luxury rally around Greece, Drive report. The relatively low speed of such trips through rural lanes, along with Jesko 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and temperatures above 100 degrees are a recipe for heat disaster. To date, no other Jesko owners have reported their vehicles spontaneously combusting.
