Knicks fans watch ‘The Office’ muted at Madison Square Garden rather than lose to the Pelicans

The New York Knicks haven’t been good for a long time.

That was until last year when the team wrapped up the 2020-21 campaign with 16 wins out of 20, including a nine-game winning streak, the longest such streak in seven years, and reaching the knockout stages for the first time. after eight seasons.

While they were knocked out of the knockout stages by the Hawks fairly quickly (4-1), the fan base was on fire.

With expectations of a return to the NBA knockouts in 2021-22, fueled by ‘Bing Bong’ rallying calls, the Knicks have been more or less average this season.

Winners of no more than three games in a row and losers of no more than four in a row, the Knicks are 22-24 and 11th in the Eastern Conference respectively.

It’s not clear what type of team will show up for the Knicks on any given night, but facing a team with ten games under .500 would lead any fan to believe their chances of witnessing the battle effort. Their win is very good.

Those expectations fell short of reality on Thursday night, however, when the Pelicans beat the Knicks at Madison Square Garden in a low-scoring game of 102-91. Julius Randle, Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier add up to 15 points. It was a fascinating performance.

The game isn’t necessarily unwatchable. But, it’s also not exactly worth watching.

That statement was never more true than watching a Knicks fan skip over the game to watch an episode of ‘The Office’, muted and unsubtitled from his seat at MSG.

That’s where Oscar circulates a video he’s made, in which he voices Kevin over Cookie Monster footage. Michael takes Erin to lunch and accidentally reveals that Andy was once engaged to Angela. Then Erin then throws cake in Andy’s face as he sings her a song in front of everyone – a classic!

Audio and subtitles may not be necessary considering the 57 billion minutes of “The Office” used by Netflix users in 2020. according to Variety .

The Pelicans’ win at Madison Square Garden marked the team’s seventh win this season, and the Knicks’ third consecutive loss at home. New York had previously suffered a 112-110 loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday and a 97-87 loss to the Hornets on Monday, January 17.

The Knicks will host the Clippers for their next game at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. New York will be looking to break a three-game losing streak against Los Angeles, who are about to lose to the Nuggets in extra time 130-128.

Maybe ‘Scott’s Tots’ will be in the next game.
