Keeneland Postpones January Sale Starts One Day Through Jan 11


Due to winter storms and hazardous travel conditions in Kentucky, Keeneland has moved all operations related to the January All Age Horse Sale back one day and the sale start date to May 11th. One.

The sale will end on January 14. All sessions will begin at 10 a.m. ET.

The January sale was previously scheduled to take place January 10-13, Monday through Thursday. It will now run from Tuesday to Friday.

Keeneland announced on January 6th that due to transportation challenges as well as closures and cancellations of freight due to heavy snowfall, they have postponed the pick-up date for the horse to arrive at the airport from the 7th. January -8. Nearly 10 inches of snow fell in the Lexington area on Thursday.

The preview date will now be January 9-10.

“Our first priority is the safety of the horses and those involved in the sale, and a delayed start of the sale will allow them to arrive safely and give the shipper enough time. to display their horses,” said Tony Lacy, vice president of sales for Keeneland. “Our customers largely agreed with their proposal to make this change.”

Keeneland has cataloged 1,631 horses for the January Sale, which offers paternal brood, prospective brood, transitional pony, race age, stallion and prospective stallion .
