KCPD officer receives award for capturing woman who went on crime spree last week | News


KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — An off-duty KCPD officer has obtained an award for capturing the lady who went on against the law spree, primarily in KCK, final week. 

In response to the KCPD, Sgt. Bobbie King has been with the Kansas Metropolis Police Division for 11 years. Now, she has obtained a Chief’s Coin for capturing Alyssa Leanne Arreola. 

Sgt. King was working off-duty at Alta Vista Excessive College on Oct. 17 when there was a report of a suspicious individual within the car parking zone. 

Sgt. King investigated and located Arreola sitting within the passenger seat of a Honda CR-V. 

“I knew the individual that owned that car and it wasn’t her,” King mentioned. “So, I knew one thing was about to occur, however I didn’t know what.” 

After they made contact with one another, Arreola ran to the BP gasoline station at 1500 Paseo Boulevard.

Sgt. King chased after her and located her within the gasoline station’s again workplace. She then tried to take her into custody, however a battle ensued.

Throughout that battle, Arreola bit Sgt. King’s proper index finger. That precipitated nerve injury and a number of punctures.

In the end, with the assistance of a bystander, King was in a position to get her into handcuffs.

When Sgt. King was chasing and capturing Arreola, she did not know she was suspected of dedicated violent crimes earlier within the day — together with homicide.

“We commend Sgt. King for her courageous service to Kansas Citym,” the KCPD mentioned in a press release to the media. “The Chief’s Coin acknowledges exemplary efforts and is a practice continued by Chief Rick Smith when he turned Chief in 2017.”
