Kate Middleton, she is just like us! I obviously say this with a wink and a nod, but in some respects she’s right. I’m sure she’d do more “ordinary girl” things if she wasn’t so recognizable. But every once in a while, she decides to just go for it, and do something like go department shopping alone while wearing tight jeans. That’s exactly what she did this week in London and with the outfit she wore for the occasion, she almost even join in.
For her rare solo shopping trip, Middleton wore a very Kate Middleton outfit: wool coat, wire-knit cardigan, skinny jeans and Chelsea boots. The shoes in question are one that I immediately recognized, as a fashion editor friend of mine who lives in Brooklyn wore a pair when I met her a few months ago in NYC. She informed me that they were Rockand everyone in New York is wearing them. From the street they are extremely light, comfortable and durable.
I made a note to look them up when I got home, and sure enough, they popular with New Yorkers who appreciate boots that are practical, unimportant, and don’t cost a thousand dollars ($200). The origins of Blundstone Footwear are in Australia, where they have been popular for decades. Apparently, Middleton caught up, as did many of us across the pond.
