Kambosos Jr Vs Haney held on June 5 in Melbourne

A fight between George Kambosos Jr and Devin Haney seems to have finally been agreed upon.

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger tweeted this evening that the undisputed lightweight title fight will be on June 5 in Melbourne, Australia.

Kambosos, the WBA, IBF and WBO champion, will have the home advantage as always on his first defence. The deal includes a rematch under if Haney wins.

The WBC champion was promoted by Matchroom USA but is currently a free agent. This fight deal will see him enter into a multi-match co-promotion deal with Top Rated and Lou DiBella.

If reports are accurate, the June 5 skirmish will end the era of social media snipers and a traditional narrative of whether or not they will fight.

Kambosos won his memorable title in five months in New York when the Australians ousted Teofimo Lopez. Haney has been a WBC owner since 2019 and he last passed the toughest test so far against JoJo Diaz. However, this summer ‘The Dream’ will travel thousands of miles to become the undisputed lightweight champion of the world.

The war of words will continue until June but one of the biggest fights in boxing looks set to come.
