Outside a Chicago courthouse on March 10, Jussie’s siblings spoke to reporters, saying he was innocent and that he didn’t deserve a sentencing. The Empire the star was found guilty of five of six counts for making false police reports in 2019. His reporting of a hate crime led judge James Linn to sentence him to 150 days in the county jail. Starting Thursday and 30 months of felony probation.
“[The judge] embarrassed my brother, he said of his arrogance, “his brother Jojo Smollett, 44 years old, said. “He didn’t know the difficulties my brother was having. He didn’t know anything he was facing.”
Jojo went on to say, “In 2022, we don’t shame people like this. Okay? He basically called him a psychopath.”
Jussie’s sister Jazz Smollett41 years old, begins by saying that she believes her brother is innocent.
“This shouldn’t be a controversial statement because it’s the absolute truth,” she said. “What is debatable is that his entire ordeal has been undermined of justice.”
