Although the last Isuzu-branded car sold in the US was a 1993 Isuzu Touch PenIsuzu did a great job truck for sale for the rest of the 1990s. Things still looked pretty good for Isuzu as the new century began, but then everybody upgraded their truck game and many of their competitors’ offerings make Isuzus seem outdated. Isuzu created a new body specifically for race chassis, arranged to have it built in Subaru’s factory in IndianaAnd call it axiom. You won’t see a lot of Axioms these days, but I found this last year’s production example at a car graveyard in Oklahoma City recently.
As we all know, Isuzu’s decline and demise in North America accelerated rapidly as the 2000s progressed. VehiCross it’s interesting but only so weird and it was criticized after 2001. Soldiers are becoming more and more obsolete held until 2002, the Amigos (aka Rodeo Sport) until 2003, and that only left the Axiom and Rodeo holding on in 2004. By 2005, the only new Isuzu-branded passenger cars sold in the United States were the two Chevrolets were renamed: person going up (Pioneers) And i-Series pickup truck (Colorado). In early 2009, Isuzu announces departure, perhaps forever. You can still buy new Isuzu commercial truck here, of course.
The 2004 Axiom has an MSRP that starts at $24,849 for the S-level with rear-wheel drive and goes up to $30,499 for the premium XS with all-wheel drive. That’s about $40,703 and $49,958 in 2023.
Joe Isuzu has been brought back after a decade of retirement to introduce the Axiom. Note that Joe’s bragging in this ad is that the Axiom is much cheaper than the Volvo Cross Country.
This truck is a cheap Axiom S 4×2, which still seems to be fully equipped.
The 2004 Axiom’s 3.5-liter V6 made 250 horsepower and 246 pound-feet, up from 230 horsepower and 230 pound-feet in the 2002-2003 Axioms.
