Timberlake had previously pleaded not guilty, claiming that he had only had “one martini” before following a friend home. He also refused a sobriety test but failed a road sobriety test, with the arresting officer writing in his report that he had “determined that the defendant was operating the said vehicle while intoxicated, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his breath had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, he was unable to distract himself, he spoke slowly, he walked unsteadily, and he performed poorly on all standard road sobriety tests.”
Because Timberlake refused to take a breathalyzer test, the judge suspended his driver’s license. In New York, refusing a breathalyzer test automatically results in a license suspension, even if you are later found not guilty. It’s unclear how long Timberlake will be banned from driving, but he has inside llewyn davis. He could have bought a few Uber Blacks. Besides, if he had done that in June, he wouldn’t have gotten into this situation in the first place.
Judge Carl Irace also had some harsh words for Timberlake’s attorney, who had previously made comments that Irace said were “irresponsible” and “appeared to be trying to poison the case before it even began.” The judge threatened to issue a restraining order if he continued.
Timberlake’s next hearing is currently set for September 13, though it remains unclear whether he will appear in court.
