JPJ identifies counter service improvements – four areas to reduce congestion and wait times
JPJ has identified a number of measures to improve counter service delivery nationwide. The four points were outlined in a statement by the department’s director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly bin Ramli after a visit by Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar to the JPJ counter at Galeria, Putrajaya earlier this month. KSN ordered improvements to be made within a week.
The Department of Land Transport said there were a number of issues that needed attention, especially in improving counter services to reduce congestion and waiting times for customers.
One area is providing JPJ Concierges to educate customers about transactions that can be done online. The agents will approach customers in line to see if their business can be done online and, if so, guide them through the process. JPJ added that it will also encourage customers renew driving license (LMM) and road tax (LKM) online through the MyJPJ app and mySIKAP portal.
The department will also improve the JPJeQ system to allow customers to get a queue number by scanning a QR code. Customers will receive notifications about the status of their queue number on their phones.
JPJ will also implement revisions to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for vehicle and driver licensing-related transactions that involve physical documents or forms, which will be replaced with digital versions that can be filled out before arriving at the JPJ counter.
“JPJ hopes that the improvements that will be made can reduce congestion and waiting times at JPJ counters, providing the best service to JPJ customers,” said JPJ General Manager.
