Teofimo Lopez said he hopes to return to the ring this summer and possibly face undisputed ultralightweight champion Josh Taylor.
Lopez has not been in a fight since losing three lightweight world championships in November 2021. At 135lbs, the 24-year-old is chasing similar glory at 140lbs.
One name that’s constantly being mentioned by Lopez is Taylor, but Scot’s future in the ultralightweight division is in full swing following his underdog performance against Jack Catterall earlier in the year.
Lopez told The Good Fight, hosted by Kate Abdo, that a fight between him and Taylor is a possibility.
“We’re trying to make me and Taylor right now undisputed. Looks like we’re working on something.”
“I’m trying [for] a world title is definitely the next one,” he added. Lopez says his ambition lies in ultralight and welding weight.
“I look forward to being undisputed again.
My goal is to be the undisputed three-time champion. I’m looking forward to being back in the summer, thinking of coming here on the West Coast but that depends on who we’re fighting.”
