Daniel Jacobs admitted that he was disappointed with his performance in his final ring appearance against Gabriel Rosado. While Jacobs was watched and expected to overtake his senior, he struggled throughout before claiming a decisive split victory.
With Jacobs taking some time to restart, the former IBF middleweight champion announced that he is mentally and physically prepared to make a statement against John Ryder. However, after 12 rounds of mostly mundane action, Jacobs realized he had entered the wrong scorecard.
Jacobs exploded as he walked on his ring, while Ryder’s fans poured rain of boos at the foreigner. Before the opening bell rang, Jacobs stood in the middle of the ring and waited for Ryder to meet him there. Although Jacobs came in with business sense, he quickly withdrew as soon as round one began.
The Brooklyn-born player boxed in on his hind legs and appeared pleased with the one-by-one landing. Ryder, though, knew well and well that he had to head inside. However, with each attempt, Jacobs simply jabbed him in the face then missed Ryder’s return fire.
It is the same in the second period. Jacobs glided effortlessly from mainstream to Southpaw, leaving Ryder aghast at what was unfolding in front of him. Jacobs has no sense of urgency, even as he has hooked up with many unanswered footage.
During the third and fourth rounds, Ryder raised his arms and moved forward. However, Jacobs continued to move smoothly across the ring. He unleashed his continuous stab but it pointlessly bounced off the British warrior’s gauntlet. A physical attack pushed Jacobs back into the game but the former player coped well with the pressure of a rough and rough opponent.
As the midpoint of their contest began to pass, a smiling Jacobs stepped into the center of the ring. However, right after that, Ryder had nothing to smile about at him. Some of the candidate’s right-handers were shorter than 168 pounds that caught Jacobs’ attention. It seemed that, with his corner moment, Ryder continued to ramp up his pace into the seventh inning.
Jacobs’ nimble feet seemed to be moving in quicksand as he couldn’t hit and move like he used to for the first few innings. Ryder hits the midfield, landing straight and leaning towards Jacobs several times.
With wobbly legs and a bruised right eye, Jacobs had no legs. He stands firmly on the ropes and fights inside, which Ryder accepts with open arms. During their competition, Ryder manipulated speed and forced Jacobs to fight uncomfortably.
Seemingly stunned on some occasions, Jacobs managed to execute the final bell with relative ease. But, despite doing so, Jacobs wasn’t too pleased with the final decision. Judge Marcus McDonnell believes Jacobs has done more than enough to leave the arena with his hands up in victory, with the score 115-113 in his favor.
In the end, McDonnell was overtaken by Mike Fitzgerald and Jean-Robert Lane, who scored 115-113 in Ryder’s favor. An elated Ryder jumped into the air as soon as the decision was made, officially securing the biggest win of his career.
