Jimmy Garoppolo Injury Update: 49ers QB suffers thumb injury, considered questionable for Texas game
Jimmy Garoppolo injured his right thumb during the 49ers’ Thursday night game against the Titans, making his condition for the Week 17 competition in San Francisco (and beyond) uncertain.
Garoppolo was fired during the second quarter of a 20-17 loss to the Titans, and the 49ers believe he sprained his right thumb. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday that it was “a more substantial injury.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided additional reporting on the injury Monday night, revealing that Garoppolo had suffered a fractured bone and ruptured ligament in his thumb. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said the team will reevaluate Garoppolo on Wednesday to see if he can play against the Texans on Sunday.

Based on his stats against the Titans, Garoppolo’s thumb injury doesn’t seem to have had much of an impact on his form, although it’s unclear how the injury might affect his ability to throw the ball forward. like his.

Garoppolo is now the third defender to start this season to deal with a serious finger injury.
