Ranji Trophy 2022: Mumbai knockout line-up announced; Shaw to take the lead, Musheer called up first


Prithvi Shaw will lead the Mumbai team for the Ranji Trophy knockout match that begins in Bengaluru on June 6.

Shivam Dube, the 28-year-old all-around athlete who was a member of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, was disqualified due to injury. Ajinkya Rahane, who has a hamstring injury, is also not on the list.

The selection committee, headed by Salil Ankola, included Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother, on the team for his consistent record in age-group cricket.

As an open and left-handed spinner, Musheer amassed 670 runs in nine matches of the Cooch Behar Trophy, spanning two centuries and fifty. The 17-year-old has scored 401 runs in three matches for the Mumbai U-25 team. On his debut against Manipur, he scored 267 goals.

Arjun Tendulkar, Prashant Solanki were eliminated. Mumbai will take on Uttarakhand in the quarterfinals.
