Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez has weighed in on his predictions for this weekend’s Canelo Alvarez vs Gennadiy Golovkin trio fight – and is envisioning a solid win for Mexico this time around.
Rodriguez, who will defend his WBC Super Flyweight title against Israel Gonzalez at the bottom, told DAZN Boxing Show he believes an early stoppage-time win for Canelo is imminent.
“I feel like Canelo will take him away [Golovkin] out soon – you’ll see! “
The 22-year-old is not alone in his opinion. Unlike the first two confrontations between the two, Canelo is a clear favorite character in the eyes of many people because of the battle of the triowith observers pointing to Golovkin’s age and inactivity over the past few years.
While the pair’s first two encounters were in the middleweight division, this time they will face off at 168lbs – where Canelo holds all four main belts. There is a view that this will also benefit Canelo, with ‘Triple G’ having never played at super-middleweight before.
