Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez beat Cristian Gonzalez; Win the WBO ruồi flyweight title
By: Sean Crose
The vacant WBO flyweight title was announced Saturday night as Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez 17-0 against Cristian Gonzalez 15-1. The match, which was broadcast live on streaming service DAZN, was scheduled for the 12th. Rodriguez started pressuring in the first half, while Gonzalez tried to adopt a more slippery approach. With that said, it was Gonzalez who made a good connection at the end of the inning. Gonzalez continued to be able to launch his shots into the second half, although the aggressive Rodriguez was able to turn the heat up late in the half.
Rodriguez can’t seem to keep up with this man in season three. The match is fast-paced but it’s going to Gonzalez. Indeed, Gonzalez seemed to have eliminated Rodriguez in the fourth round. Credit must be given to Rodriguez in the fifth round – he simply won’t stop plunging into his opponents. By the end of the round, Gonzalez was out of breath. The sixth witnessed Rodriguez be able to land on his men. Is the tide changing?
Gonzalez was sharp in the seventh inning, but Rodriguez continued to pressurize in the eighth. The fight maintained its furious pace in season nine. Rodriguez was able to catch up to his men in the tenth, but Gonzalez was able to defend well most of the time. Rodriguez was able to track Gonzalez several times in the 11th inning. Both men fought hard and well in the twelfth and final round, although Rodriguez could have made it past it.
Suffice it to say, Rodriguez was able to walk out of the ring with the WBO belt he currently owns thanks to a unanimous decision nod from the referees.
