Billionaire Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos recently said he plans to give away “much” of his fortune.

Bezos’ comment came in a interview with CNN on Saturday, when he said he plans to use his fortune to fight climate change and support social “unities”. Bezos is worth about $124 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

In a conversation with CNN, Bezos offered some specifics about his plan, focusing instead on a vision of giving generously to individuals working to combat “divide” in politics. and American public life. No specific timeline or amount was given.

“The hard part is figuring out how to do it in a leveraged way,” Bezos told CNN.

Bezos and his partner Lauren Sanchez also gave a $100 million endowment to pop icon Dolly Parton to be disbursed to charities of Parton’s choosing. Bezos made a similar donation in 2021 to CNN contributor Van Jones and chef Jose Andres.

Unlike some of his billionaire peers, including ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, Bezos didn’t sign the Giving Pledge, a promise made by some of the world’s richest people to donate most of their wealth to charity activities. The Giving Pledge was started by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. CNBC contacted The Bezos Expedition for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Bezos has committed $10 billion to the Bezos Earth Foundation in 2020 and by October 2021 has given away 947 million dollars through the same.
