Jeezy Thinks His “Spirit Business”, Not Street Credit Validation

Jeezy may care less about street credit validation. At least, that’s the picture the longtime rapper painted in an interview on Breakfast club. Jeezy stopped by the morning radio show to promote his upcoming album Doze, but also to discuss his life.

One of the questions Charlamagne Tha God begins with is praise for Jeezy’s transition around street credits. The host also highlighted Jeezy’s decision to talk about themes in his music.

“I’m so glad someone like you has graced the streets for so long. You’ve gotten to the age where you’re like you know what, street credit doesn’t matter,” Charlamagne said. “Do you remember the first time you realized that?”

In turn, Jeezy is an open book – explaining that his jail time made him realize the lack of value behind his street mindset. Also, Jeezy revealed that being a street legend doesn’t mean in business meetings.

“I really think when you start walking into those rooms and you try to do business. Nobody really cares what you did on the street,” Jeezy said. “And then as a man, you shouldn’t care…because what people think of me is not my mental business. It just isn’t. “

Jeezy says having Street Cred is about authenticating him

Between his career and personal life, Jeezy has gone beyond the streets – despite earning millions from honoring them. In 2018, the rapper started dating the TV personality, Jeannie Mai.

A month before the couple got married in March 2021, they discovered that they were expecting their first child together. However, they miscarried. But the couple is known they conceived a week after the holy union. Their daughter Monaco Mai was born in January 2022.

In Breakfast Club In the interview released on Thursday (October 20), the artist talked about being private about who he is.

“But for me, I don’t need to confirm what you think is real for me to be a real man,” Jeezy said. “Just get the rap and the artist and everything out of there. A lot of things I did because I was trying to confirm. I want everyone to know, I’m talking about my problem. Imma does this and that”.

A prison vestige that influenced Jeezy’s transition

Referring to Charlamagne’s initial question about street credit, Jeezy shared that a previous arrest got him thinking. In 2014, the rapper was one of six people arrested by police for possessing an assault rifle after a fatal shooting at a Wiz Khalifa concert, according to Weekly entertainment.

“And the last time I was locked up in LA when that incident happened in the Bay, that was when I really was like, you’ve got the world. You succeed, you go on tour, you make 30,000 people a night and you go to jail,” Jeezy said.

He said he remembers thinking his career was going to go downhill while people kept ringing about his situation. More than that, however, he worries that he won’t have the proper support if he goes to jail.

“And if I had to go to jail, none of these people wouldn’t send me money. They don’t want to write to me,” added the artist. “They don’t pay attention to my kids. Come on, I’ve seen it.”
