Jeep Grand Cherokee 2023 price and specifications: Plug-in hybrid coming soon

New two-row version Jeep Grand Cherokee WL Generation finally reached the showrooms in February, prices from $77,950 before road costs.

UPDATE, 06/23/2023 – Jeep Australia has added the flagship Reserve Grand Cherokee Summit 4xe to the local scope. It will arrive in local galleries in August.

Three variants will be offered at first: Night Eagle, Limited and Overland, all powered by the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 petrol engine. The flagship Summit Reserve 4xe will arrive locally in August and cost $129,950 before hitting the road.

These two rows Grand Cherkoee Additional variants to the three-row Grand Cherokee L line-up launched last year, are available in Night Eagle, Limited and Summit Reserve versions and are priced from $82,750 before off-road.

The Grand Cherokee’s all-wheel drive system now disconnects the front axle and now sends power exclusively to the rear wheels if the system detects road conditions that don’t require full-foot traction. Jeep says this therefore reduces drag on the driveway and improves fuel economy.

While the Overland trim is new to the local WL range, there’s no word yet on whether the terrain-oriented Trailhawk will join the range. This is offered exclusively in the US with the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain.

powertrain

The non-electrified 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee variants use one 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine manufacture 214kW power at 6400 rpm and 344Nm torque at 4000 rpm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

The Summit Reserve 4xe, on the other hand, has a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) that combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with two electric motors that produce a total system output of 280kW and 637Nm.

The 4xe has a 17.3 kWh battery pack and 400V electrical construction.

Use non-electrified 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee variants 9.9L/100km on ADR combined cycle, while Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe is supposed to consume 3.2L/100km.

Jeep claims the Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe has an all-electric range of 52km, according to gentle NEDC testing.

The non-electrified variants have an 87L fuel tank, while the Summit Reserve 4xe PHEV has a 72L fuel tank.
